Last year, we are proud to have served more than 1,000 children and family members.
Pediatric cancer has a drastic and pervasive impact on our community. Forty-three children are diagnosed with cancer every day. Cancer remains the leading cause of death from disease among children, but only 4% of federal funding spent on cancer research is directed toward the treatment of children.
Feelings of hope, optimism, and perceived support lead to better outcomes for children with cancer. Positive emotions in children can promote resilience, improving their daily functioning and overall well-being. In fact, researchers J. Czamanski-Cohen and Mifano Shoshani determined that making a child’s dream come true improves pediatric cancer patients’ physical and emotional health.
