Our Bear Cubs Program pairs members of our Young Professionals Board (YPB) with some of our Bear Hug recipients. YPB members connect with their Bear Cub to provide them with encouraging letters, phone calls, and other small surprises throughout the year to cheer them on during their fight against pediatric cancer. YPB members, along with Bear Cubs and their families, participate in several in-person and virtual activities throughout the year, such as a Lincoln Park Zoo tour and a virtual cooking class.

Now more than ever, pediatric cancer patients can feel isolated. Our virtual events provide a free opportunity for Bear Hug recipients to come together to make connections with children going through a similar experience…and do something fun! Virtual activities include yoga, crafts, bingo, scavenger hunts, dance parties, raffles and more. Our virtual events aim to provide joy to each child and positively impact their well-being.

We are proud to offer a variety of activities throughout Chicagoland for our families. Whether it is a sporting event, theater performance, family entertainment, or museum visit, Bear Necessities families enjoy being able to forget about their cancer diagnosis and create positive memories together. In addition to individual donors, we partner with local businesses, including sports teams and entertainment venues, who donate tickets and experiences for our Bear Hug children and their families.
Would you like to brighten the lives of our Bear Hug families? Donations are gratefully accepted! If you have tickets to a concert, game, performance, or event you would like to donate, please contact [email protected] or 312-214-1200 x25.
